Gundam Astraea GNY-001

Brief information :-
Appears in the side-story Mobile Suit Gundam 00P. This unit is a prototype version of the GN-001 Gundam Exia.
The unit name derives from the goddess Astraea, who is associated with the card Justice—one of the twenty-two Major Arcana in the Tarot.

Preliminary stage - As usual, snap-fitted the whole kit for weathering reference. Well, not really into beam rifle and the shield! Will scrap it off from this build......











Stage 1 - Applied lacquered paint to upper torso as 'base-coat'. Following up with a prelim layer of pastel and stippled randomly on desired edges for 'scratches' effect. Adhere with the material used :-
  • Mr.Color - Immediate blue (72) as based coat
  • Mr.Color - Light gray (premixed) as based coat
  • Mr.Color - Tire black (137) as 'scratches' effect
  • Tamiya weathering master - Gray as 'worn-off' effect





Stage 2 - Ditto process @ rear part torso. Additional pastel were applied onto booster pack for 'burnt' effect as per planned. Adhere with the material used :-
  • Mr.Color - Immediate blue (72) as based coat
  • Mr.Color - Light gray (premixed) as based coat
  • Mr.Color - Tire black (137) as 'scratches' effect
  • Tamiya weathering master - Gray as 'worn-off' effect
  • Tamiya weathering master - Gun metal as 'burnt' effect



Stage 3 - Ditto process @ crotch parts and armor skirts. Shoulder's 'scratched' effect were done by using solder pen for 'severed damage' effect before apply other mediums.





















Stage 4 - Using sand paper 600 to eliminate all 'left overs'. Applied additional lacquered paint in between the marks for 'in-depth' feel. Ditto process were taken place on shoulder,armor,arm pad and hand parts for weathering effect. Adhered with the material were used :-
  • Mr.Color - Immediate blue (72) as based coat
  • Mr.Color - Light gray (premixed) as based coat
  • Mr.Color - Tire black (137) as 'scratches' effect
  • Mr.Color - Steel (28) as for 'in-depth' effect
  • Tamiya weathering master - Gray as 'worn-off' effect












Stage 5 - Ditto process on the other set of hand. For random 'bullet-holes', solder pen were part of the primary tool for it as well.






















Stage 6 - Additional layer of pastel on overall kit to balanced up the weathering effect before proceeding to next stage. Adhered with the material were used :-
  • Tamiya weathering master - Gray as 'worn-off' effect



















Stage 7 - Final layer of pastel to enhanced the entire weathering before finish with top coat. For final weathering layers, adhere with the material were used :-
  • Tamiya weathering master - Orange rust as for 'rusty' effect
  • Tamiya weathering master - Mud as for 'dusty' effect
